Pregnant & Preparing for Birth during COVID-19
Updated: Jan 11, 2021
To say that we have experienced many changes to our daily lives is an understatement. Preparing for something that is weeks or months away, like your baby's birth, remains important despite everything else that is going on. Pregnancy and a baby's birth can be a very positive and peaceful experience, even during COVID-19.
There might be many uncertainties about policies and situations that could affect a family's birth plan, but there are plenty of ways that we can prepare together. Let's take a moment to remember what we still have influence and control over as we get ready to welcome baby!
We can still...
exercise our minds to feel more peaceful.
stop ourselves from going down scary rabbit-holes of information while still staying informed about important safety measures.
become knowledgeable about birth, focusing our attention to positive birth stories.
learn our options as healthcare consumers for pregnancy, birth, and after baby arrives.
prepare our birth partner (husband/wife/significant other/mom/etc.) to support us during birth and transition into parenthood.
nourish and move our bodies for a healthful pregnancy and birth.
Keep calm and carry on, right? Sometimes easier said than done. Being pregnant myself, I am so thankful that I have had access to all of my Hypnobabies® tools from the moment the news of the pandemic became close to home. Here are four tools I have been using regularly:
